Shower Caddy
The plastic shower caddy is probably the first thing that should be ready to go when moving into the dorms. You do not want to be that person on the way to the restroom and dropping everything. Instead, you have everything in one spot and it is easy to transport in and out of the shower without an issue. Also, you will not have to worry about anyone stealing your shampoo. This makes living in a dorm with communal showers so much easier.

That Glorious Mattress Pad
This one will really have your back, literally. You would think that because you are paying so much for living in the dorms that they would give you a decent mattress, but no instead they give you a mattress as hard as a rock for you to sleep on. Getting yourself a mattress pad will make those late nights so much better.
Closet Organizer
Because those closets are ridiculously tiny. While you are thinking man these rooms are small, let me tell you that the closets do not get any bigger. The best solution to this is to get yourself a closet organizer to either fix your shoes or anything else that could help you keep that closet clutter free and easily accessible. The small rooms and closets are probably the worst things about living in a dorm. This should be at the top of your dorm room essentials list.

An Aromatherapy Diffuser
You never know how to clean, or unclean, your roommate will be. For those of you that get stuck with a roommate that simply don’t clean and likes to leave some stench behind. Or maybe it’s you… Either way, getting an aromatherapy diffuser really helps keep whatever nasty smell is coming from your roommate’s side out of your side or at least mask it until they manage to clean it up. Or at least it will always keep your room smelling fresh.

Small Kitchen Appliances
The schools dinning commons may be great at first, or at least decent, but after a while, you are going to start getting tired of eating the same foods. Getting yourself a kitchen appliance such as a personal blender to make some great juices or a rice cooker to make single pot meals will make things a lot easier and it will feel a bit more like home cooking. You’ll come to miss your mothers home cooked meals once you start living in a dorm.
